The support system, the legs and the joints. Steel takes the load and keeps its shape, and a welded steel frame is the reason a bed stays quiet. It is heavier to move and it rusts where the coating is broken, so the coating matters as much as the metal.
Powder coating

Went down hill
I bought this bed frame earlier this year in January 2025 and it was great. Sturdy, cute, cheap, and easy to assemble. But I had to move a bunch so I sold it and I’m getting into my new place I ordered it again remembering how much I liked it. The second time I ordered it felt cheap, not sturdy at all and it broke within a week of me setting it up. It was still easy to assemble but every time I get into bed I feel it wobble and worry it will break. Well turns out it has broken. The the bed has broken every single day since I got it. One of the main support beams bent the day we got it and the support bars kept falling out of the frame, literally doing nothing and it would just fall out of the socket, I'd worry about getting on it.
